UNFCCC Releases Technical Paper on Standardized Baselines under the CDM

The technical paper takes into account all submissions received from parties and relevant organizations and will be considered by the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) at its 33rd session, to take place in Cancun, Mexico, from 30 November - 4 December 2010.

18 November 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a technical paper (FCCC/TP/2010/4), which has been prepared in order to support the consideration of standardized baselines under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

At its 32nd session, the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) requested the Secretariat to prepare a technical paper that takes into account all submissions received from parties and relevant organizations for consideration by the SBSTA at its 33rd session, to take place in Cancun, Mexico, from 30 November – 4 December 2010. SBSTA had been requested to recommend modalities and procedures for the development of standardized baselines under the CDM that are broadly applicable, that provide a high level of environmental integrity, and that take into account specific national circumstances.
