The March edition of the UNFCCC Newsletter focuses on the outcomes of the Climate Change Conference that took place in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011.

It features articles on: mitigation; adaptation; capacity building; the establishment of the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action; and climate science.

12 March 2012: The March edition of the UNFCCC Newsletter focuses on the outcomes of the Durban Climate Change Conference. It includes a video message from Christina Figueres, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, who qualifies the Conference as “a turning point in the history” of the Convention, noting the existence of a “momentum for change” towards a sustainable, climate-resilient future.

Also in a video message, Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, highlights the role companies can play to give governments confidence that their actions to decarbonize the economy are supported. An article focuses on the decision adopted by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP) in Durban, South Africa, which secured the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
