The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals announced that Saudia Arabia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU).

3 March 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals announced that Saudi Arabia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU). With Saudi Arabia, the current number of signatories is 26. The Dugong MoU has been in force since 31 October 2007 and provides a platform in support of the long-term survival of dugongs through coordinated conservation and management across their extensive range.
