9 July 2010: The Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific (MCED-6) was organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific ( UN ESCAP) and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea in Muju, from 8 -9 July 2010.

The Conference reviewed regional and national progress in the implementation of the MCED-5 recommendations, as well as critical regional challenges for sustainable development, in order to formulate key messages for the Ministerial Declaration and other initiatives to be adopted by the MCED-6, scheduled to convene in October 2010.
