The International Conference on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM): Lessons from Implementation in Developing Countries was held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 10-12 March 2008.

The conference sought to: collect information on the level of preparedness in developing countries for the implementation of IWRM; assess progress with the implementation of IWRM, with special focus on developing countries; and identify major remaining challenges. The conference also incorporated, as a parallel session, the Second Africa Regional meeting of the National Committees of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme.
