An expert consultation on International Guidelines for the Management of Deepwater High Seas Bottom Fisheries took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 11-14 September 2007.

The consultation aimed to review the draft guidelines prepared by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, which elaborate on issues such as: fisheries management considerations; environmental considerations for management; management frameworks; compliance and enforcement issues; reporting requirements; and the role and responsibilities of major stakeholders in deep-sea fisheries in the high seas.
