CMS Calls for Input on Strategic Plan 2015-2023

By an agreement adopted during the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CMS (COP 10), the drafting of the new strategic plan will be conducted inter-sessionally, by a regionally balanced Working Group.

The first physical meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to take place in Bonn, during the first week of November 2012, and a final draft strategy will be presented to CMS COP 11 in late 2014.

10 August 2012: The Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) is calling for input on lessons learned from implementation of the current CMS strategic plan, as well as ideas on the content of the new Strategic Plan for the period 2015-2023. By an agreement adopted during the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CMS (COP 10), the drafting of the new strategic plan will be conducted inter-sessionally, by a regionally balanced Working Group.

Members of the Working Group have been elected by the CMS regions, and include the Scientific Council and Standing Committee Chairs as ex-officio members. The Group is chaired by Ines Verleye (Belgium).

The first physical meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, during the first week of November 2012, back-to-back with the 40th Meeting of the CMS Standing Committee.

Input is being accepted until 21 August 2012, and a final draft strategy will presented to CMS COP 11 in late 2014. [Call for Comments] [Website of Strategic Plan Working Group]
