CBD Secretariat Releases Report of COP 11

The final report of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) includes statements made at the opening and closing sessions; the meeting's decisions; a Chair's summary statement of the high-level segment; and a summary report of the Cities and Subnational Biodiversity Summit.

CBD5 December 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has made available the final report of the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the CBD.

The report, now available online, includes: statements made at the opening and closing sessions; a Chair’s summary statement of the high-level segment; and a summary report of the Cities and Subnational Biodiversity Summit.

It also includes the meeting’s decisions on, among others: status of the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing (ABS); monitoring progress in implementation of national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) and related capacity-building support to parties; review of implementation of the strategy for resource mobilization, including the establishment of targets; the financial mechanism; cooperation with other conventions, international organizations, and initiatives; Article 8(j) (traditional knowledge) and related provisions; review of the programme of work on island biodiversity (PoWIB); ecosystem restoration; marine and coastal biodiversity; biodiversity and climate change related issues; and sustainable use of biodiversity: bushmeat and sustainable wildlife management.
