© CBD30 July 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the fifth issue of its e-newsletter on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD) and biodiversity.

This issue features articles on: Forest Day 3, which will take place during the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC; an online course on REDD; the launch of a project entitled “Forest Footprint Disclosure;” a REDD Methodology Modules Project; and a discussion of carbon offset projects in California, US. The e-newsletter also includes summaries and links to several publications on the benefits of REDD, tenure issues and REDD, and incentives for the maintenance of ecosystem services. [The newsletter]
