5 May 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the quarterly report on the administration of the Convention, covering the period from January-March 2009. In relation to biodiversity and climate change, the report highlights the following activities: a capacity development workshop for the Pacific on National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, the Mainstreaming of Biodiversity and the Integration of Climate Change (2-6 February 2009, Nadi, Fiji); and an online dialogue on the links between biodiversity, climate change adaptation and risks and vulnerabilities (9-20 March 2009) in preparation for the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change.

Furthermore, the CBD Secretariat has prepared a chapter on biodiversity and climate change for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) youth guide on climate change and food security; has presented a submission of views on issues relating to indigenous peoples and local communities for the development and application of methodologies on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) to the UNFCCC Secretariat; and has presented a submission on climate change, biodiversity and fisheries to the informal coordination meeting on climate change and fisheries and aquaculture, convened by FAO, the World Bank and World Fish.
