6 March 2009: EcoSecurities has published a report, commissioned by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD). Titled “Challenges for a Business Case for High-Biodiversity REDD Projects and Schemes,” the report is dedicated to the exploration of market payment options for “high-biodiversity REDD” efforts, or those REDD measures that contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

The report discusses: forest conservation and its relation to carbon markets; the business case for “high-biodiversity REDD” activities; and related tools, such as certification and conservation mitigation schemes and funds. The conclusion discusses the outlook for a business case for “high-biodiversity REDD.” [The Report]
