CBD Rio Conventions Pavilion Highlights Protected Areas

The second day of the Rio Conventions Pavilion at CBD COP 11 consisted of four panel sessions on: working towards the Aichi Targets - how PAs contribute; PAs as natural solutions to climate change and other global challenges; PAs for marine conservation, blue carbon and sustainable fisheries; and opportunities for mainstreaming PAs into policies and programmes.

Rio Conventions Pavilion at CBD COP 1110 October 2012: The Rio Conventions Pavilion at the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Hyderabad, India, continued on 10 October 2012, with participants discussing the theme “Natural Solutions: Protected Areas (PAs) Meeting Biodiversity Targets and Adapting to Global Change.”

The day consisted of four panel sessions on: working towards the Aichi Targets – how PAs contribute; PAs as natural solutions to climate change and other global challenges; PAs for marine conservation, blue carbon and sustainable fisheries; and opportunities for mainstreaming PAs into policies and programmes.
