13 May 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the April issue of its Monthly Bulletin of Activities, which includes a report on the recently held workshop on regional action to combat invasive species on islands to preserve biodiversity and adapt to climate change.

The workshop, titled “Help Island Adapt – Workshop on Regional Action to Combat Invasive Species on Islands to Preserve Biodiversity and Adapt to Climate Change,” was held from 12-16 April 2010, in Auckland, New Zealand, and was organized by the CBD Secretariat in collaboration with the Government of New Zealand, the Global Invasive Species Programme and other organizations. Focusing on four major island regions – the Caribbean, the Coral Triangle, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific – the workshop collected best practices and discussed actions required to address the issue of invasive alien species and island biodiversity in the context of climate change.
