20 January 2010: On the occasion of the XVI Consultative Group meeting and the XVI General Authority meeting of the Plan of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment and Coastal Areas of the Southeast Pacific (CPPS), Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), highlighted the impacts of climate change on marine biodiversity.
Djoghlaf called attention to the CBD publication on the impacts of ocean acidification on marine biodiversity, which was launched at the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, and two marine expert workshops addressing threats to marine biodiversity, held during 2009.
