This meeting will be organized by the Strategic Approach for International Chemicals Management (SAICM) Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Cote d’Ivoire, in accordance with International Conference on the Chemicals Management resolution II/2, which called for at least one meeting for each of the five United Nations regions to be organized in the current intersessional period. The meeting will: review progress on implementation of the Strategic Approach within Africa; provide guidance on implementation to all stakeholders at a regional level; enable technical and strategic discussions and exchange of information to take place; and allow regional preparation for the 18th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development, which will address chemicals.
