UNGA Adopts Resolution on Cooperation with Pacific Island Forum

The resolution welcomes the efforts of Pacific Island Forum (PIF) members and the UN Secretary-General to enhance high-level dialogue, and also requests the Secretary-General to report to the 67th session of the General Assembly on the implementation of the expanded cooperation and coordination efforts.

UN logo12 September 2011: The UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution (65/316) on increasing cooperation with the Pacific Island Forum (PIF). By this resolution, the UNGA invites the UN Secretary-General to consider ways to promote and expand cooperation and coordination with PIF members and the Forum Secretariat.

The resolution welcomes the efforts of PIF members and the Secretary-General to enhance high-level dialogue, and also requests the Secretary General to report to the UNGA’s 67th session on the implementation of the expanded cooperation and coordination efforts. [UNGA Resolution: A/RES/65/316]
