UNGA Adopts Biodiversity Resolutions

The texts adopted by the UN General Assembly upon the recommendation of its Second Committee addressed: desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD); coral reefs; biological diversity; sustainable mountain development and the impact of disasters on the issue; and the contribution of the ninth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

22 December 2011: The UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted all 42 draft resolutions and four draft decisions submitted to it by the Second Committee (Economic and Financial). On biodiversity, the adopted texts addressed, inter alia: desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD); coral reefs; biological diversity; sustainable mountain development and the impact of disasters on the issue.

The UNGA also approved the text on the contribution of the ninth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
