UNFCCC13 May 2015: In preparation for the 42nd session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) taking place in June 2015, the UNFCCC Secretariat has released a note (FCCC/SBI/2015/INF.3) informing parties of the status of reporting by Annex I parties as of 30 April 2015. The update provides the status of the submission and review of the sixth national communications (NC6s) and first biennial reports (BR1s).

The table included in the note presents the date each document was received for each Annex I party, the language(s) of the submissions, the dates of the party’s review week and the status of the review report. According to the note, the Secretariat received NC6s from all 44 Annex I Parties, 26 of which submitted their NC6s in advance of the due date. In addition, all but one party had submitted their BR1s and common tabular format (CTF) tables at the time of preparation of the note.

Under the Convention and decisions by its Conference of the Parties (COP), Annex I parties must report on their actions to implement the Convention, as well as their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, according to a common set of guidelines on NCs and BRs. The Secretariat’s note will serve to update SBI, which will take up an agenda item on reporting from and review of Annex I parties and the status of submission and review of NC6s and BR1s during the June session.
