UNFCCC Summarizes Progress under Nairobi Work Programme

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report on the progress made in implementing activities under the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change (NWP) ahead of the 42nd session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-11 June 2015.

UNFCCC30 April 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report on the progress made in implementing activities under the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change (NWP) ahead of the 42nd session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-11 June 2015.

The report includes sections on: progress made in implementing activities under the NWP; developing linkages with adaptation-related workstreams and bodies under the Convention; and next steps. It also contains an annex listing NWP partner organizations by regional focus, climate hazard, scope of activities and sector.

On progress in implementing activities under the NWP, the report details: engagement of partner organizations; collaboration under the NWP; and development and dissemination of information and knowledge, and sharing and learning from adaptation experiences.

The report provides an overview of the implementation progress under the NWP since SBSTA 41. It describes the continued engagement in implementing activities of Parties, partner organizations, regional centers and networks, experts and others. It further highlights collaborative activities with the Adaptation Committee and the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) and concludes with a brief overview of the mandated next steps.
