5 December 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a submission by the US on the Fourth Review of the Financial Mechanism (FCCC/SBI/2009/MISC.10/Add.1). The submission highlights the Global Environment Facility (GEF) has clearly demonstrated improved performance over the pastfour years following solid implementation of reforms agreed for the Fourth Replenishment (GEF-4).

It also notes theGEF is showing progress and tangible results in terms of efficiently providing resources to UNFCCCdeveloping country parties, catalyzing additional co-financing, transferring climate-friendlytechnologies, and building capacity in developing countries for mitigation and adaptation.
