UNFCCC12 December 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a verification report submitted by an accredited independent entity (AIE) regarding the Joint Implementation (JI) project “Utilization of Coal Mine Methane at the Coal Mine named after A.F. Zasyadko.”
This is pursuant to the JI guidelines that require that an AIE shall make its determination regarding reported emission reductions or enhancements of removals (verification) publicly available through the Secretariat, together with an explanation of its reasons. The period for requesting a review of this verification report, which covers reported emission reductions for the period from 1 January-30 September 2009, will end on 26 December 2009.
The monitoring report for the JI project “Nitrous Oxide Emission Reduction Project at GP Nitric Acid Plant in AB Achema Fertiliser Factory” has been submitted by the AIE. This is pursuant to the JI guidelines requiring that reports on reductions in emissions by sources or enhancements of removals by sinks due to JI projects shall be made publicly available. The monitoring report, covering the period 16 August 2008 to 26 September 2009, is now available on the UNFCCC website.
In addition, the verification regarding the JI project “Rudaiciai Wind Power Park Project” has been deemed final. This is in accordance with the JI guidelines, which provide that a determination regarding the emission reductions by sources or enhancements of removals by sinks (verification) shall be deemed final 15 days after the date on which the verification is made public, unless a party involved in the project or three members of the JI Supervisory Committee (JISC) request a review by the JISC. Since neither a party involved nor three members of the JISC have requested a review within the specified period, the verification for this JI project, for the monitoring report covering the period from 1 January-31 December 2008, is deemed final. The JISC has also finalized the determination regarding the project design document (PDD) for the JI project “CMM Utilisation on the Coal Mine Shcheglovskaya-Glubokaya of the State Holding Joint-Stock.” The JISC also announced at its 19th meeting that satisfactory additional revisions and documentation had been received from the independent entity (IE) as a result of the review of the determination for this PDD, allowing the Secretariat and the JISC Chair to deem the determination final. The accepted final determination is publicly available on the UNFCCC website.
Finally, the PDDs for two JI projects have been submitted by their respective AIEs. This is pursuant to the JI guidelines which stipulate that under the JI Track 2 procedure, AIEs shall make JI PDDs publicly available through the Secretariat, subject to confidentiality provisions, and receive comments from parties, stakeholders and UNFCCC accredited observers for 30 days from the date the PDD is made publicly available. The PDDs for the JI projects “Coal Mine Methane Capture and Utilisation at Samsonivska-Zakhidna Mine” and “Didsiliai Wind Power Project” are open for comments until 6 and 8 January 2010, respectively.[Publication of Verification Report (Announcement)][The Verification Report][Monitoring Report (Announcement)][The Monitoring Report][Final Verification (Announcement)][The Verification Report][Final Determination (Announcement)][The Determination Report][PDD for Coal Mine Methane Project][PDD for Didsiliai Wind Power Project]
