UNFCCC Reports on GHG Inventory Guidelines Workshop

The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the summary of the second technical workshop of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) on the revision of the 'Guidelines for the Technical Review of Greenhouse Gas Inventories from Parties Included in Annex I to the Convention' (FCCC/SBSTA/2014/INF.22).

UNFCCC21 November 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the summary of the second technical workshop of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) on the revision of the ‘Guidelines for the Technical Review of Greenhouse Gas Inventories from Parties Included in Annex I to the Convention’ (FCCC/SBSTA/2014/INF.22).

According to the summary report, workshop participants drafted revised guidelines (FCCC/SBSTA/2014/INF.21), which will be reviewed by SBSTA at its 41st session, scheduled to take place in December 2014, in Lima, Peru.

The report also indicates that discussions at the workshop centered on: enhancing the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of reviews; stages of the review of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories of Annex I Parties; operational approaches to the individual inventory review (desk, centralized and in-country reviews); scope and focus of the different stages of the review; timing of the review stages; and reporting.
