UNFCCC Releases Submissions on Capacity-Building for SBI 30

14 April 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released two documents on capacity-building that will be examined by its Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) at its 30th session, scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-10 June 2009.

The first is a compilation of submissions by parties and intergovernmental organizations containing information on their experiences and lessons learned regarding, in particular, the use of performance indicators for monitoring and evaluating capacity-building at the national and global levels (FCCC/SBI/2009/MISC.1). The submissions were made by the Czech Republic on behalf of the European Community, Japan, Tanzania on behalf of Least Developed Countries under the UNFCCC, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Evaluation Office, the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), and the UN Development Programme (UNEP), further to an invitation by the SBI at its 29th session (FCCC/SBI/2008/19, paras. 88 and 101).
The second is a compilation of submissions by Argentina, Japan and Uzbekistan on additional or updated information and views relevant to the completion of the second comprehensive review of the capacity-building framework (FCCC/SBI/2009/MISC.2).
