19 June 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the in-depth review of the fifth national communication of Belarus (FCCC/IDR.5/BLR).

The expert review team (ERT) that carried out the review notes that Belarus’s fifth national communication complies, in general, with the UNFCCC reporting guidelines on national communications, and contains some of the supplementary information required under Article 7, paragraph 2, of the Kyoto Protocol. The ERT commends Belarus for this improvement in the completeness of its reporting, but considers that the completeness of the Party’s reporting can be improved through a series of measures outlined in the report. The ERT further acknowledges that Belarus’s national communication is broadly transparent, but could be further improved by: enhancing coordination among the institutions involved in the collection and provision of data and information; by ensuring cross-linkages among the sections of the national communication and between the current and previous national communications; and providing more focused information on each section of the national communication.
