© UNFCCC 3 September 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a summary (FCCC/SBSTA/2009/5) of the technical workshop on integrating practices, tools and systems for climate risk assessment and management and disaster risk reduction strategies into national policies and programmes, held under the Nairobi Work Programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change.

The workshop took place in Havana, Cuba, from 10-12 March 2009.
Discussions at the workshop focused on practical tools and systems, good practice and successful examples, opportunities and barriers. The document includes a summary of the key discussion points, including the main challenges in integrating risk assessment and management and risk reduction strategies into national policies and programmes, as well as recommendations and issues for follow-up and further consideration. The workshop report may be considered by the 33rd session of Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 33) as part of its consideration of the outputs from activities completed prior to that session, with a view to reviewing the results of the implementation of the Nairobi Work Programme.
