UNESCO IOC Releases 20th Anniversary Issue of Harmful Algae Newsletter

The newsletter promotes global communication and networking on harmful algal blooms (HABs), and is published in the framework of IOC-UNESCO's research, improved observation, capacity building and management of HABs and their effects on society, including impacts on fisheries, aquaculture, public health and tourism.

January 2012: The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released the January 2012 issue of its technical newsletter on harmful algal blooms (HABs), titled “Harmful Algae News.” This edition marks the 20th anniversary of the publication.

The newsletter is a vehicle for global communication and networking on HABs, and is published in the framework of IOC-UNESCO’s research, improved observation, capacity building and management of HABs and their effects on society, including impacts on fisheries, aquaculture, public health and tourism.
