UNEP OzonAction’s Virtual Tour Reaches Cancun

The Virtual Tour looks at solutions that not only protect the ozone layer, but also combat climate change and protect the planet.

Launched in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 2010, the Tour has visited various regions, making stop-offs in Yerevan (Armenia), Beirut (Lebanon) and Kinshasa (DR Congo).

6 December 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) OzonAction Branch’s “Virtual Tour from Bangkok to Cancun,” which looks at solutions to climate change offered by the Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances, has reached Cancun.

Introduced in the sidelines of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Virtual Tour is an international campaign aiming to unite people and trigger action with solutions. The Virtual Tour looks at “non-CO2” climate gases and solutions that not only protect the ozone layer, but also combat climate change and protect the planet. Launched in Bangkok, Thailand, on 12 November 2010, during the 22nd Meeting of Parties to the Montreal Protocol, the Tour has visited various regions, making stop-offs in Yerevan (Armenia), Beirut (Lebanon) and Kinshasa (DR Congo).
