UNEP Announces Co-Commissioner Generals for Expo 2012

Expo 2012 aims to provide an opportunity to enhance the international community's perception of the function and value of the ocean and coasts, share knowledge on the proper use of ocean and coasts and recognize the need for cooperation in the marine sector.

4 October 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced the names of the two Co-Commissioner Generals of Expo 2012. Expo 2012 will convene under the theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast” in Yeosu, the Republic of Korea.

According to UNEP, UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon has appointed Amina Mohamed, Deputy Director of UNEP, and Samuel Koo, Republic of Korea, as Co-Commissioner Generals. Expo 2012 aims to provide an opportunity to enhance the international community’s perception of the function and value of the ocean and coasts, share knowledge on the proper use of ocean and coasts and recognize the need for cooperation in the marine sector.
