24 April 2009: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) organized the first UNECE Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Housing, which convened from 21-22 April 2009, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Participants presented examples of energy-efficient housing from the UNECE region, as well as related financial and carbon offsetting mechanisms and supporting policies.
The workshop’s conclusions and recommendations will contribute to the development of an Action Plan on Energy Efficiency in Housing for the UNECE region. Its main elements will be developed through the second UNECE Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Housing, to be held from 23-25 November 2009, in Vienna, Austria. To prepare for the second meeting, the UNECE Secretariat will issue a call for papers focused on existing and proposed solutions and measures. [UNECE press release]
