29 November 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a new online portal allowing users access to data on its work in 177 countries and territories, in an effort to fulfill its transparency commitments. Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator, said open access will allow the public to monitor UNDP investments in poverty and sustainable human development for all.

Clark stressed transparency as a top priority for UNDP, and said the open access portal “enables the public to track aid and helps our partners manage their resources more effectively.” UNDP committed to aid transparency as part of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI).

open.undp.org includes programmatic information on activities, expenditures, income and results on 6,000 active UNDP projects, as well as projects that closed in 2011. Users can sort data based on focus areas, funding sources and locations. The US financed the portal.
