UNDP Cap-Net Programme Examines 10 Years of Sustainable Water Management

The UNDP Cap-Net Programme launched a report on its 10th anniversary, reflecting on its strengths as a capacity building programme to support sustainable water management.

The report emphasizes that the tools developed by Cap-Net for sustainable water management capacity building are a solid foundation to expand into areas such as IWRM and agriculture, sustainable water footprints, water in the green economy and water management in coastal zones.

UNDP6 September 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Programme on Capacity Building for Integrated Water Resources Management (Cap-Net) celebrated its 10th anniversary with the launch of a report, titled “10 Years of Capacity Development in Sustainable Water Management.” The report highlights network activities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean, and looks toward the coming decade of work.

The report also: identifies means of increasing impacts, accessing the best of international knowledge; notes the strength of Cap-Net in using capacity building to catalyze on-the-ground integrated water resources management (IWRM) activities; and highlights opportunities for students.

The report emphasizes that with challenges related to the impacts of climate change on water resources management, the tools developed by Cap-Net for sustainable water management capacity building are a solid foundation to expand into areas such as IWRM and agriculture, sustainable water footprints, water in the green economy and water management in coastal zones.
