1 March 2010: The UN-REDD Programme has published its sixth monthly Newsletter, outlining the Programme’s recent activities. Highlights in this issue include: eight new countries joining the Programme; a look ahead to the fourth policy board meeting, which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 17-19 March 2010; a commentary on the International Year of Biodiversity; and articles on monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV).

The MRV articles include reports from an MRV workshop held in Tanzania, and on the UN-REDD Programme teaming up with the Global Forest Monitoring Facility and space agencies to enhance remote sensing for the collection of forest data. The Newsletter also provides an update on a study on the requirements for a REDD+-compliant benefit distribution system in Viet Nam. [The Newsletter]
