Typology of Ramsar Sites in the Congo Basin Published

The Ramsar Secretariat has informed that the the Commission Internationale du Bassin Congo-Oubangui-Sangha (CICOS) has published the Basin Strategic Action Plan for the Integrated Management of Water Resource in the Congo Basin: Sustainable Integrated Management of Wetlands.

11 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Secretariat) has informed that the Commission Internationale du Bassin Congo-Oubangui-Sangha (CICOS) has published the Basin Strategic Action Plan for the Integrated Management of Water Resource in the Congo Basin: Sustainable Integrated Management of Wetlands (in French).

The document was prepared in the framework of a roundtable that will take place on 22 June 2011. It describes CICOS interventions and includes a description of: the typology of wetlands; the Ramsar Sites; the major strengths and weaknesses of wetlands management; and opportunities for integrated wetlands management. The Ramsar Convention signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with CICOS in 2006. [The Typology]
