The annual report for 2009 of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme summarizes its activities related to climate change and biodiversity, among others.

November 2010: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has released its annual report of activities for 2009, which covers activities related to climate change and biodiversity, among others.

On climate change, the report discusses the Pacific Year of Climate Change campaign, support to national meteorological services, the five-year Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change project, and support to Pacific negotiators for the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in 2009. The report also notes that SPREP assisted its members in developing regional strategies, national policies and localized practical tools.

On ecosystem management, the report describes: monitoring reefs and water quality in Fagaloa Bay, Samoa; species management and conservation; marine turtle conservation; whale and dolphin conservation; collaboration with the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS); and Saving Nu‘utele and Nu‘ulua Islands from rats.
