SPREP Announces Media Award Winners for Environmental Awareness

Awards were made to Pacific reporters for raising awareness of environment issues in the region.

The theme of the 2010 Vision Pasifika Media Award was “Value Island Biodiversity – it's our life,” in commemoration of the International Year of Biodiversity.

25 March 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) announced the winners of the 2010 Vision Pasifika Media Awards. Awards were made to Pacific reporters for raising awareness of environment issues in the region.

The theme of the 2010 Vision Pasifika Media Award was “Value Island Biodiversity – it’s our life,” in commemoration of the International Year of Biodiversity. The winners included: Rachna Nath, Fiji TV, for the piece “Lomawai Coastal Village Conservation;” Rajan Sami in the Print Category for the piece “Making Conservation Fun;” and Maggie Boyle, for the journalism student category, for her piece “Saving a Landmark.” The University of South Pacific Journalism student publication “Wansolwara” was awarded overall winner.
