The Ramsar Standing Committee (SC) held its 40th meeting in Gland, Switzerland, from 11-15 May 2009.
The meeting was the first of the Committee membership newly elected by the tenth Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP10) in Changwon, Korea, in November 2008. Subsidiary committees met over the first two days to prepare the ground for the plenary sessions that continued until the end of the week. Participants also took a study tour of a Ramsar site in the Geneva area. The Ramsar Secretariat has released the report of the SC40 and the Scientific and Technical Review Panel work plan for 2009-2012 that was adopted by SC40.
