A workshop on legal support for the implementation of the Ramsar Convention in West and Central Africa has been held in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The meeting, which took place which took place from 27-28 March 2006, addressed how to strengthen the participation of countries in the region in Ramsar Convention objectivies. Participants were also briefed on the results of the ninth Conference of the Parties to the Ramsar Convention, held in November 2006. In addition, issues of legal support and the Ramsar guidelines for reviewing relevant laws and institutions were discussed. The event ended with the adoption of a declaration by participants.
