Nikhil Seth Appointed Head of UNCSD Secretariat

Nikhil Seth, formerly the Director of the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination, has been appointed as Director for the Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), and Head of the Office of the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

September 2011: Nikhil Seth has been appointed as Director for the Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), effective 1 September 2011.

In this capacity, Seth also will serve as the Head of the Office of the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The Conference Secretary-General (CSG) is Sha Zukang.

Seth previously served as Director of the Office for Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Support and Coordination. He succeeds Tariq Banuri. [Publication: Rio+20: Making it Happen, Vol. 2, Issue 16]
