The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that Jukka Uosukainen has been appointed as the Director of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), the operational arm of the UNFCCC's Technology Mechanism.

Unep Logo18 January 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that Jukka Uosukainen has been appointed as the Director of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), the operational arm of the UNFCCC’s Technology Mechanism.

Uosukainen has worked in the national and international environmental sector for over two decades, chairing and facilitating various UN committees, including of the UNFCCC and UNEP. More recently, he served as the Special Envoy for Climate Change for the Government of Finland.

The CTCN aims to assist developing countries reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve resilience to the impacts of climate change. The Centre is hosted and managed by UNEP in collaboration with the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and with the support of 11 centres of excellence located in developing and developed countries.
