The European Symposium on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) as a Tool for Fisheries Management and Ecosystem Conservation took place in Murcia, Spain, from 25-28 September 2007.

Symposium participants addressed, inter alia: the ecological effects of MPAs; MPA effects on fisheries and other uses; the assessment of MPA performance; and the tools for MPA planning and design.
