The International Environmental Law Research Centre (IELRC) is currently implementing a research project entitled ‘Legal Issues Related to Water Sector Restructuring: Human Rights, Environment, Agriculture and Socio-Economic Aspects,’ supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

In this context, IELRC organized a workshop on Legal Aspects of Water Sector Reforms, which took place from 20-21 April 2007, in Geneva, Switzerland. Participants from the academic, NGO and international organization sectors exchanged views on, inter alia: access to water as a human right; private sector involvement in water services provision; and changes in the legal and regulatory frameworks of water management.
