UNFCCC1 April 2015: The Joint Implementation (JI) Supervisory Committee (JISC) has submitted its recommendations on the review of the JI guidelines (FCCC/SBI/2015/5), prepared in accordance with the request from the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol at its tenth session (CMP 10).

In the document, the JISC recommends that parties continue their review of the JI guidelines in the light of the emerging picture of post-2020 mechanisms currently being discussed by the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). The document also contains recommendations relating to, among other things, the review of the registration of JI activities and the issuance of emission reduction units (ERUs) by host parties, crediting periods, scope of appeals against decisions of the JISC, and synergy between JI and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

The document will be considered by the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) at its 42nd session, taking place in Bonn, Germany, in June 2015. [JISC Recommendations on Review of JI Guidelines]
