The Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has issued a notification drawing parties' attention to a list of decisions of the ITPGR Governing Body at its fourth session, held in March 2011 in Bali, Indonesia, concerning the operation of the Treaty's Multilateral System (MLS) of access and benefit-sharing (ABS), and has requested the submission of information to that regard.
20 February 2013: The Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has issued a notification drawing parties’ attention to a list of decisions of the ITPGR Governing Body at its fourth session, held in March 2011 in Bali, Indonesia, concerning the operation of the Treaty’s Multilateral System (MLS) of access and benefit-sharing (ABS), and has requested the submission of information to that regard.
ITPGR parties are requested, inter alia: to report on their plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) that are in the MLS; provide information on the inclusion of PGRFA in the MLS by natural and legal persons within their jurisdictions, and their measures to encourage such inclusions; report on their measures to provide access to PGRFA through the MLS; provide information on the status of monetary and non-monetary benefit-sharing; and provide information about their contribution to the MLS, including the number of accessions and standard Material Transfer Agreements, and the use of the alternative payment scheme.
