IOSEA e-Newsletter Previews Sixth Meeting of Signatories

The IOSEA Secretariat soon will announce the convening of the Sixth Meeting of IOSEA Signatory States, in Bangkok, Thailand, from 6-9 December 2011.

The July issue of the IOSEA e-Newsletter also features Australia, the largest country in the IOSEA region, and its marine turtle research in Western Australia.

5 July 2011: The July e-Newsletter of the Indian Ocean-South-East Asian Marine Turtle Conservation Memorandum of Understanding (IOSEA) under the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat features a profile on Australia, the largest country in the IOSEA region, with details of marine turtle research in Western Australia, among other topics.

The e-Newsletter notes that the IOSEA Secretariat soon will announce the convening of the Sixth Meeting of IOSEA Signatory States, in Bangkok, Thailand, from 6-9 December 2011. The meeting is supported by a grant from the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and a pledge from France’s Ministry of Ecology (MEDDLT). Formal letters of invitation and a provisional agenda, currently under consultation with the IOSEA Advisory Committee, will be circulated shortly. IOSEA marks its 10th anniversary later in 2011.

The e-Newsletter also includes a selection of stories from the IOSEA website, from countries throughout the IOSEA region including Egypt, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. [Publication: IOSEA e-News for July 2011]
