The UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s Technical Consultation on International Guidelines for the Management of Deep-Sea Fisheries in the High Seas took place in Rome, Italy, from 4-8 February 2008.

Participants included representatives from governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, who reviewed the draft international guidelines for the management of deep-sea fisheries in the high seas. The Consultation failed to complete a set of guidelines, but agreed to hold a follow-up meeting, scheduled for August 2008.
