The World We Want18 September 2013: The UN-led global consultation on addressing inequalities in the post-2015 development agenda has transitioned into the ‘Addressing Inequalities Networked Alliance’ (AINA), facilitated by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Women, and led by civil society members, academics, advocates and other interested persons.

The new alliance was established on 9 July 2013, and issued its first newsletter in August 2013. An online forum led by users of the World We Want 2015 platform, AINA provides information on inequalities-related academic work, policy briefs, and related events. AINA includes UN staff, civil society, researchers, advocates and anyone concerned about inequalities, especially in relation to poverty reduction.

AINA is hosting its first online discussion from 18 September-2 October 2013, on the topic of ‘Youth Migration, Equity and Inequalities in the Post-2015 Agenda.’

The global consultation on addressing inequalities in the post-2015 development agenda was co-led by UNICEF and UN Women, and supported by the Governments of Denmark and Ghana. It included a series of online discussions and public call for papers, which were synthesized in a report and key messages presented at a two-day leadership meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, in February 2013. The newsletter notes that AINA is ‘the evolution of the thematic consultations into ongoing discussions between peers and colleagues who are deeply concerned with addressing inequalities in the post-2015 development agenda.’ [AINA Webpage] [Publication: Online Newsletter]
