23 January 2013: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) held a consultative workshop in East Africa in order to solicit feedback on its draft capacity development strategy. The workshop was attended by experts, policy-makers and practitioners from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda who reviewed the draft strategy and identified their own priorities for capacity development.

ICRAF’s capacity building focuses on six priorities: improved tree varieties and seed stocks; enhanced on-farm productivity; better access to value chains; methods and tools to assess land health; understanding and responding to climate change; and understanding the role of trees in the provision of ecosystem services.
