GEF Reports on Poznan Programme on Technology Transfer

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a progress report of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) on progress made in carrying out the Poznan Strategic Programme on Technology Transfer, ahead of the 42nd session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which is scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-11 June 2015.

GEF28 April 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a progress report of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) on progress made in carrying out the Poznan Strategic Programme on Technology Transfer, ahead of the 42nd session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which is scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-11 June 2015.

The report ‘Implementation of the Poznan Strategic and Long-term Programs on Technology Transfer and GEF Consultation with the Climate Technology Center and Network,’ includes sections on: relevant UNFCCC guidance; Implementation of the Poznan Strategic and Long-Term Programs on Technology Transfer; and GEF consultation with the regional technology transfer centers and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN).

The section on the Poznan Strategic Programme includes subsections on: support for climate technology centers and a climate technology network; piloting priority technology projects to foster innovation and investments; public-private partnerships for technology transfer; technology needs assessments (TNAs); and the GEF as a catalytic supporting institution for technology transfer.

The report also includes appendices on: technology transfer project support in line with the Long-Term Program on Technology Transfer; implementation of the Poznan Strategic Programme on Technology Transfer; implementation progress of technology transfer pilot projects under the Poznan Strategic Programme; and climate change technology transfer projects supported in line with the Long-Term Programme on Technology Transfer.

SBI 34 requested the GEF to provide reports on progress made in carrying out its activities under the Poznan Strategic Programme, for consideration at subsequent SBI sessions. SBI 41 pointed to areas of collaboration between the GEF-supported regional technology transfer and finance centers under the Poznan strategic programme and the CTCN and invited the GEF to report on this collaboration.
