The 40th Session of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) convened from 14-19 April 2008, in Hangzhou, China.

The session considered 47 compounds, with 421 maximum residue limits (MRLs). The meeting recommended 29 compounds with 286 MRLs for advancement, and 13 pesticides with 40 MRLs were proposed for withdrawal. Several new proposals were discussed at the meeting, including the issue of minor/specialty crops, and globally harmonized MRLs through Codex, by developing a process for the evaluation of new chemicals.
