An international conference on “Ecohydrological processes and sustainable floodplain management” took place in Lodz, Poland, from 19-23 May 2008.

The event was organized by the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology (ERCE) and the Department of Applied Ecology, University of Lodz, under the auspices of the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme and the InterAcademy Panel Water Programme.

An international conference on “Ecohydrological processes and sustainable floodplain management” took place in Lodz, Poland, from 19-23 May 2008.

The event was organized by the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology (ERCE) and the Department of Applied Ecology, University of Lodz, under the auspices of the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme and the InterAcademy Panel Water Programme. Participants heard case studies presenting continental perspectives and discussed: hydro-geomorphological processes and ecological engineering in floodplain formation; ecohydrology – link between conservation of ecological functions of floodplains and enhancement of sustainable economical development; and sustainable management of floodplains in the face of global climate change. The event ended with the adoption of the Floodplain Declaration.
